Understand your local ranking report

You search near the business and see one result. A colleague checks elsewhere and sees another. A monthly report gives you a single number without explaining the difference, and a Google Maps grid ranking tracker only helps if the report explains what it observed.

A local visibility report should explain the observations. CTB Digital Marketing Co., Ltd. can help you scope what to measure, how to compare it, and which business questions the report needs to support.

Scope and inclusions

What the reporting covers. A recorded query, set of observation points, collection time and result type for each grid scan; consistent comparison conditions between periods, with measurement changes noted alongside business changes; explicit handling of missing or failed collection; and a work log that sits alongside the report for context.

Out of scope. A grid's colours do not prove what every customer saw. We do not relabel an ordinary grid as verified AI-answer or Ask Maps inclusion; that needs its own collection method (see the research variant, not for publication). We do not present an unverified revenue figure as a return on investment.

Record what the grid measured

A rank grid samples results across a set of locations. To interpret the grid, keep a record of the query, observation points, collection time, and the result type the tool reports.

The grid shows the recorded observations. Its colours do not, on their own, explain why a position differs or prove what every customer saw. Review the underlying result and the collection limits before choosing an action.

Name the tool and available data in the reporting agreement. For automated data collection, we build tool integrations like the open-source rank-in-maps-plugin, which connects an agent to local-SEO tools under controlled scopes. Confirm whether that setup supports scheduling, alerts and any other features you need; the product name alone does not establish that.

Keep comparisons consistent

A changed query or a different set of points may answer a different question. When comparing periods, record any changes to the measurement setup alongside the business changes.

If the data is missing or collection failed, show that explicitly. A missing observation does not confirm that the business was absent from the results.

The report makes clear which changes were measured and which questions need more investigation.

Separate Maps positions from AI answers

A traditional rank observation is not evidence that a business was cited in an AI-generated answer. Answer monitoring needs its own collection method and a record of the actual response.

If you want to measure AI visibility, separately define which interface to observe, which prompt to use, and the conditions for collecting the response. Do not relabel an ordinary grid as verified Ask Maps inclusion.

Compare rankings with enquiries and sales

Calls, website visits, completed enquiries and sales are different events. Use available data to understand their movement, but do not assume a grid change caused a booked sale.

If you need to attribute an outcome to an activity, agree which data to connect and how to match the records. Record gaps instead of presenting an unverified revenue figure as a return on investment.

Where we work

CTB works with businesses tracking local visibility in Bangkok, Samut Prakan, Phuket and Pattaya City. The grid is scoped to the market and the question you are assessing. Full operating details are on the /services/ hub.

Frequently asked questions

How large should the grid be?

Choose the coverage to suit your question and the market you are assessing. More points add observations and cost; they do not automatically produce a better decision, and a smaller grid read carefully is often more useful than a large one read loosely.

Does a weak area tell us what to fix?

It identifies an observation worth investigating, not a fix. The cause needs further evidence about the profile, the query, the competitors, or the measurement conditions before you decide what, if anything, to change. A red cell on its own does not tell you whether the problem is distance, category, competition, or a collection error.

Is campaign work included?

No, campaign work is a separate engagement. Reporting can identify the questions and priorities worth acting on; the local Map Pack campaign work then addresses the actions you choose, with its own scope, timeline and fee rather than being folded into the reporting arrangement.

Can the report prove our marketing is working?

No. The report shows what was observed in local search under recorded conditions. Whether marketing is "working" is a business judgement that also needs enquiry and sales data, and we keep those measures separate rather than combining them into one score.
